Molly Snittjer is an associate in the environmental law firm of Nijman Franzetti LLP, in Chicago. Molly has experience in environmental enforcement matters under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA and the Illinois Environmental Protection Act. She is knowledgeable on issues related to NPDES and Clean Air Act permitting, municipal water systems and state site remediation programs.
Prior to joining Nijman Franzetti, Molly was an Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office where she prosecuted environmental enforcement cases in Circuit Court and the Illinois Pollution Control Board. During her time at the Attorney General’s Office, Molly was part of a trial team in an enforcement action regarding parent corporation liability for a series of oil/chemical spills in Cook County, and negotiated numerous settlements on behalf of the State of Illinois.
In law school, Molly worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Regional Counsel for Region 5 in Chicago and as a summer associate at a law firm in Arizona. Molly was also a law clerk to Judge Brigid Mary McGrath in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Molly is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association where she serves as the Chair of the Young Lawyers Section Environmental Committee and on the YLS Executive Committee.
Molly received her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, where she was the Executive Editor of the Notre Dame Journal of Legislation, and her B.A. from Arizona State University.
