We are excited to welcome Craig Thedwall as the newest associate at Nijman Franzetti LLP.
Craig joins the firm with a distinguished career as an environmental attorney and Commander in the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps. His legal experience includes defending citizen suits and class action torts, advising on complex permitting issues, and counseling senior military leaders on environmental compliance with immediate national security implications.
Craig brings deep knowledge of key environmental statutes—including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA), and the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA). His understanding of the intersection between environmental regulation, engineering, and large-scale operations makes him an ideal fit for our clients’ most sophisticated challenges.
Throughout his military career, Craig advised and led on a broad range of legal issues, from criminal defense and court-martial prosecutions to environmental strategy and compliance across global operations. Most recently, he served as counsel to the largest land-based Navy command, representing over 57,000 personnel worldwide.
Craig’s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Naval Litigation Office’s Richard W. Eddy Environmental Achievement Award (2020), six Meritorious Service Medals, and the Commander Naval Surface Forces Leadership Award.
We are proud to have Craig on board and look forward to the insight and leadership he will bring to our clients and our team.
