What Have You Done To Help Another Women Today?

Nijman Franzetti is a proud sponsor of the Chicago Bar Association’s celebration of Women’s History Month. We were happy to support and join in the 2019 Women’s History Month Luncheon “Celebrating the Progress of Women Lawyers” as well as the Working Women’s Legal Summit on March 8.

Many thanks to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin for its coverage of the summit and luncheon in CBA Hosts Daylong Women’s Legal Summit. In its article, the Law Bulletin highlighted the latest statistics compiled by the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) on an annual basis. In 2018, women comprised 35.41 percent of U.S. lawyers; only 8.08 of working lawyers of color, the same study found. While much progress has been made by women lawyers, challenges remain and more effort is needed to ensure gender equality and to secure improved opportunities for personal and professional success in the legal profession.

One of the highlights of the day was hearing from luncheon keynote speaker Jane DiRenzo Pigott on “The Pay Gap Explained: Why It Exists, How We Close It.” A key takeaway from her comments should be a daily affirmation for all of us:

“What have you done to help another women today?”
